Genetic Testing Services
Primate Products, Inc., in collaboration with the Molecular Anthropology Laboratory at the University of California, Davis is proud to announce our new Genetic Testing Program. Using the latest technology, including single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), we now have the capability to offer multiple levels of genetic testing.
- Kinship - As many breeders today have a limited male-to-female ratio, it is important
to know if the animals in a group are related. This test estimates the coefficient of
relatedness between pairs of animals up to first cousin, or 1/8 relatedness. - Regional Origin - We know that genetic differences can cause animals from different geographic regions to be quite different in their responses to experimental factors, confounding study results. This test determines the geographic origin the animals in question.
- Hybridization - Many animals originating in Indochina may have ancestry deriving from the intergrade zone of Continental Asia and thus have varying degrees of M.
- ABO Phenotyping - Knowledge of ABO blood type is important for metabolism
studies, stem cell research and donor/recipient matching in transplantation studies.
mulatta and M. fascicularis heritage. This test estimates the percentage of the genome
attributable to each species.
